An announcement is not just a way to blow your own horn. Although everybody likes a little bit of tooting. All of your family and friends with have their own preparations to make, from buying clothes and presents to losing weight before your big day. Get Started on the Planning Straight Away

As a new bride-to-be, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and expect that the world revolves around you alone. Unfortunately thousands of women are collectively thinking the same thing. That means that you will all be competing for the wedding venue, caterers, dresses, flowers, and the rest of the works. The only way to ensure that you are in first in line for your favorite items, is to plan ahead.

How to Get and Stay Organized

It’s fine to tell a bride to plan ahead, but many people have no idea how to do it. The first step should be a visit to your local stationery store, where you can purchase a hard-wearing notebook or journal. This journal or notebook will be something you want to keep after your wedding, so make sure it’s something special. You may want to buy yourself a special pen as well.

The notebook is going to be your single source for all things wedding. This is where you will keep phone numbers, websites, and email addresses for caterers, hotels, florists, bridal shops, friends and family. You will make notes of anything and everything that you will need to refer to later like your future mother in-law’s dress size to food allergies afflicting your wedding party. In this electronic age, it can seem more useful to record all of this information on your PDA or cell phone, but in twenty years when your PDA has been lost, replaced or stopped working, your memories will have disappeared along with it.

Although initially you may think this is a lot of extra work, you will reap the rewards closer to your wedding day. Wait until a couple of days before your wedding when your preparations have reach fever-pitch and you are feverishly searching your house for the caterer’s card. Then your notebook will be invaluable. More than anything else, your notebook will become your fail-proof bride-zilla prevention tool. Make Sure You Communicate

Effective communication is not just about what you say, it is also about making sure that other people understand you. To make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to your wedding, make sure to get everything in writing. When you ask for a quote, make sure you get it in writing. Likewise, get written receipts for promises of delivery or work to be done. Keep your receipts and quotes stored safely in your notebook. As the wedding day approaches, contact your vendors to make sure that they are still on track for delivery. When possible, do this follow-up via email so that you have the confirmation in writing.
