Defragment the Hard Drive Occasionally

Double click the “My Computer” icon on your desktop.

Right click on the main drive, usually labeled as Local Disk (C).

When the menu opens, choose Properties first. Next select Tools. Finally, select Defragment Now.

At the bottom of the screen, click on the Defragment button to begin.

If you have not done this in a long time, or if this is the first time the hard drive has been defragmented, the process will take a long time to complete. Be patient. It is best not to run any other programs or use the Internet while the hard drive is being defragmented. This will only slow down the process.
